childrens film opening sequences!
Nanny McPhee
The music tells the viewer the genre of the film and the time period. This is confirmed by the clothing of the characters.
This film opens with a shot of a chair and a voice over.
The voice over begins to tell us some background information about the characters.
The narrative voice over continues as we are shown an extreme long shot of the house and grounds, which shows the viewer the setting.
This then zooms in to the house, where the Nanny of the children bursts out, running to fetch the father and screaming that the children have 'eaten the baby'. The extremity of this statement shows that this is a comedic film. The fact that this is quite childish humor shows that it is a childrens' film. Another thing that shows us that this is a childrens' film is that the colours are very bright.
Spy Kids
the film is opened with a extreme long shot which then zooms closer towards a house, this then sets the scene. The house is on the coast and its very foggy and isolated and the music is what we would associate with spies as its quite eerie. It zooms in this young girl looking out the window longingly, and this gives the viewer the impression that she is lonely which is also shown by the fact the house is very isolated. The girl then asks her mother too tell her this story about two spies who fall in love, the camera shot is a close up of her face when she lights up whilst hearing the story which shows that she loves this story, which shows it is important in this movie.
